As one of the most frequently spoken languages in the world, learning to speak English has almost become a necessity. Learning a new language, especially as an adult, can be tricky, but the Kisasa Institute of Adult Education is here to help you out.

Here are a few ways you can master the English language for your general education diploma in Pennsylvania:

  • Build your vocabulary. Work on adding more words into your vocabulary every day. You can do this by looking up unfamiliar words in dictionaries, learning the meaning, and trying to apply these words in the sentences you use on that day.
  • Speak English as often as you can. This can be hard if you’re in a non-English speaking country like Japan or China, but you can always practice what you learned with your classmates.
  • Use online resources to help with pronunciation. Learning to write in English is different from being able to pronounce the words accurately. A simple Google search can help you learn the right pronunciation of certain words as well as their synonyms.
  • Read often and read out loud. Reading helps you memorize and familiarize your brain with how certain words are written and spelled. Reading out loud helps you get used to pronouncing these words. So every time you’re asked to read a sentence or paragraph out loud during class, do it.

Learning a new language in adult education in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania will not be easy at first. But with enough practice, we’re sure you’ll improve. These tips are handy whether you’re learning English to migrate to a new country or getting a Customer Service Certification. So good luck!
